New Member Orientation and Ethics Training

All new C.A.R. members applying for REALTOR® membership for the first time are not accepted to membership until they attend a New Member Orientation program which includes a minimum of 2.5 hours on the National Association of REALTOR® Code of Ethics. This requirement must be fulfilled within the first 90 days of submitting a new member application. Failure to complete this requirement within the 90 day requirement will result in termination of membership.

The New Member Orientation program covers topics necessary for you, as a REALTOR®, to conduct yourself professionally and ethically including Professional Standards, Anti-trust, Agency and Fair Housing. We offer a separate New Member Code of Ethics program. The two programs may be taken on the same or different days.

Join your fellow new members to find out about all our member benefits; meet C.A.R. Leadership and staff and discover how your membership works for you! For members who have not been active, this is the perfect time to get reacquainted & updated on all the new benefits and programs to help your business grow!

There is no cost for the live Orientation or Ethics programs. Both programs at presented in our Chicago Central office (200 S. Michigan Ave., #400) in order to give our new members an opportunity to visit our headquarters office and meet with our on-site staff.

Exemption: If you were a member in good standing with another REALTOR® Board/Association within the last year and you completed an orientation program with Code of Ethics of not less than two hours and thirty minutes of instructional you are exempt from this mandate. Contact your previous Board/Association for proof of completion of the required orientation and ethics course. Fax your document to 312-803-4915 within 90 days submitting your new member application. However, in order familiarize yourself with all of the benefits C.A.R. has to offer, we recommend you plan to attend at least the C.A.R. New Member Orientation portion of the program as soon as possible.
